The first session was a fun, interactive workshop with bass-baritone Neil Balfour. The students stepped out of their usual comfort zone during the session to explore practical techniques.
The students responded fantastically during the session and it was great to see a mix of students in a singing workshop! They were all pleasant and engaged, and by the end had managed to put a lot of what we had done straight into practice. A great afternoon with fantastic young people and supportive staff.Neil Balfour
The second session was led by professional singers Cherie Gears and Melody Reed who challenged the students to sing in a new style - improvised jazz and acappella. In this workshop students worked together to explore their vocal range to perform an acappella version of I'm Only Human - Rag'n'Bone Man - Shipley College Students Cover.
Over the weeks, they will also have sessions with other professionals on, Percussion and the Big Band sound.
Music Technology students taking part in the Big Music Project were given a workshop in percussion instruments from Shaun Howe of Bradford Music Education Hub. The students played a variety of percussion instruments ranging from Tambourines and Agogo Bells to Surdo Drums. They learnt a Samba Punk song taking turns to play various parts on different instruments.
Shipley College students involved in the Big Music Project had their final Workshop.
Hosted by Neil Balfour, the group worked on their skills as a band. Students worked together to combine the skills they learned in the previous workshops including drums, guitar and harmonies to perform We Found Love - Rhianna.
