The Additional Learning Support (ALS) Team offers support and advice if you have particular needs which affect your ability to study, make progress or access the College.

We provide support for learners with SEND (Special Educational Needs and/or Disability) with or without an Education Health & Care Plan (EHCP). Support will be assessed on an individual basis and will vary depending on your assessed needs and EHCP if you have one. We will discuss this with you as part of the application process.

TO DISCUSS YOUR SUPPORT NEEDS OR FOR FURTHER INFORMATION, CONTACT OUR ADDITIONAL LEARNING SUPPORT (ALS) TEAM ON SENDADMIN@SHIPLEY.AC.UK

Nuala

Communication Support Worker Team Leader (Deaf and HI)

We, as a college, realise the importance for our Deaf students to have a member of staff they are able to go to who is able to work alongside them and help them along this part of their life journey, as well as supporting them in class.

“I look forward to meeting you and seeing you achieve great things here!”

Helen

LSA Team Leader

I work in the sector of Media, Business and IT, with learners who have Educational Health Care Plans and learning difficulties. It is important to meet their individual needs, and I have a daily commitment to help enable them to reach their full potential and become independent learners.

"I love to see others excel and succeed when challenged."

Shipley College ALS Team Leaders James

James

LSA Team Leader

I am the Team Leader for the Foundation Learning Sector which involves ensuring that our learners have a smooth transition from previous establishments to our fantastic college, and the appropriate support in order to get the most out of their time here.

"Everybody has strengths, no matter what disabilities and learning difficulties you may have. In our department we want to be able to help you realise these strengths and use them to your full potential."

"I'D LIKE TO SAY THANK YOU. MY EXPERIENCE HERE THE PAST 3 YEARS HAS BEEN INCREDIBLE."

“The Learning Support Assistants have been incredible with the support offered to me. I'd like to tell you that your department has allowed me to achieve well above expectations going into university. (D*D*D) - my final grades. I am very pleased with the outcome. The college has allowed me to be so successful. Thank you so much for this!”
