ADULT LEARNING 19+

We offer a variety of part-time courses. Some are evenings, some are daytimes, some run on weekends. We have in-person courses using our unique buildings in Saltaire, and we also offer qualifications that are entirely online
and in your own time.

We refresh our course offer regularly, so you will often find new courses offered each term. There are some popular or regular courses that
are on the list year after year!

We have split them here as ‘Qualification courses’ and ‘Lifestyle & Leisure’.

Qualification courses are the ones that are work-related - qualifications you might need as part of your existing job, or ones to take your career to the next level. These are the courses and skills to help get you back into work, or into a new and exciting field.

In 2024 we launched The Saltaire Institute - a new take on 'night school', offering sought-after qualifications in sectors where our region needs the skills. Find out more here.

Our lifestyle & leisure courses are about giving you the opportunity to start a new hobby
or learn a new skill for fun and for development. These courses can be very social activities, and people sign up to do ‘something for themselves’ time after time!

And of course, you might do both types of courses! You could develop your cake decorating skills in a course with us to such a level that you want to set up your own business, and build your own website - and we have courses for that too!

THE ACCESS TO HE SOCIAL SCIENCE TEAM AT SHIPLEY COLLEGE HAVE BEEN INCREDIBLY HELPFUL THROUGHOUT - AND SO HAVE OTHER STAFF!

Along with our subjects, we have received a lot of additional support, such as CV writing and interview preparation. I finally
feel ready and prepared to attend university now that I have all of this in mind. I can't express my gratitude to the faculty, staff, and other members of Shipley College enough for making my time here as enjoyable and productive as possible. All students, particularly mature students such as myself who are wanting to progress  their education into university, should sign up
for a course here because of the encouragement and guidance available.
