The Saltaire Institute, hosted in our historic Salt and Exhibition Buildings, is a one-stop shop for adult students looking to get qualifications to boost the career they are in, or switch to a new career path entirely.
For generations, ‘traditional night-school’ has been a successful route for people looking to change direction, learn in-demand skills, make new friends and balance their study time with work or family commitments.
We offer a range of in-demand qualifications, in sectors that are growing in our region. Whatever course you choose, you’ll join us for early evening classes, with like minded learners.

Firstly - we know that after a day working or looking after your family, you may well need to refuel before your class. This is why our subsidised onsite café is kept open by our friendly team, serving hot and cold food and drinks, on Saltaire Institute evenings.

Certificate in the Principles of Special Educational Needs
A Level 3 qualification that is perfect for those already working in a school or other setting with children, and who wish to focus on supporting those with SEN.
We also offer a Level 1 Preparation for Adulthood - Parent Support qualification, for parents of children and young people with special educational needs
Explore design principles, develop your creative vision and learn garment and surface design skills on this Level 2 certificate course - in the shadow of Salts Mill and its long history of textiles production
English & Maths GCSE/Functional Skills
Having your English & Maths GCSE to a good standard is vital in almost all job roles, and enables you to study at a higher level - so we made sure that English & Maths are included at our Saltaire Institute
For learners interested in using counselling skills within another role, or looking to progress towards accredited status in the future.
This course will help develop counselling skills, theoretical approaches to counselling, working ethically and more.
Certificate in Games Technologies L3
We offer both Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications in Games Technologies, for those adults who work in, or aspire to work in, gaming-related industries.
