Cake Decorating courses:
Autumn term
We will make an East meets West inspired Christmas cake. Using traditional Indian red and burgundy with paisley and Mughal arches with gold detailing. The cake will be topped with a poinsettia and other seasonal foliage. We will use a mixture of fondant and royal icing to decorate, incorporating flood fill and layering.
Spring term
We will make a spring flower display suitable for a wedding or celebration cake. The spring woodland flowers will include Lords & Ladies, ramson, wood crane's-bill and speedwell. These will be made from petal paste and be fully wired. You may use cold porcelain as an alternative. The cake will be decorated with royal iced brush embroidery. We will add bees for a final touch.
Summer Term
We will make a pond cake with ducks, leaping fish, water lilies and bull rushes. We will also make a stone wall with a style and other animals such as sheep. We will make miniature flowers to decorate the cake. This course will involve modelling, painting and piping in fondant and modelling paste.
