ADDITIONAL LEARNING SUPPORT
The Additional Learning Support (ALS) Team offers support and advice if you have particular needs which affect your ability to study, make progress or access the College.
We provide support for learners with SEND (Special Educational Needs and/or Disability) with or without an Education Health & Care Plan (EHCP). Support will be assessed on an individual basis and will vary depending on your assessed needs and EHCP if you have one. We will discuss this with you as part of the application process.
TO DISCUSS YOUR SUPPORT NEEDS OR FOR FURTHER INFORMATION, CONTACT OUR ADDITIONAL LEARNING SUPPORT (ALS) TEAM ON SENDADMIN@SHIPLEY.AC.UK
Information sharing and Evidence of your Learning Difficulty and/or Disability (SEND or EHCPs)
All students are encouraged to disclose, (share) information about their learning difficulty or disability during the admission and enrolment process to ensure that any adjustments or support can be put in place at the start of the course.
To enable us to provide the most appropriate support for you, we require evidence of your learning difficulty, disability, or medical condition, including dyslexia and mental health conditions. This evidence can take the form of an EHCP, or a specialist report from a consultant, an educational psychologist or Doctor's letter; it must outline a formal diagnosis and details of the condition.
Exam Access Arrangements
Please note that for exam access arrangements a report or letter outlining a formal diagnosis from a registered specialist such as a clinical paediatrician or a hospital consultant is required. See JCQ Exam Guidance on Exam Access Arrangements for details.
If you have previously had exam access arrangements from school or a previous provider, share this with us to avoid delays. Ask your school, college alternative provider for a copy of your Form 8 or Form 9.
