Shipley College Green Gown Award Winners 2023 UK Sustainability

Shipley College are thrilled to be included as one of the finalists in the 2024 International Green Gown Awards, taking place from the 7th to the 11th October.

Being one of the smallest colleges in the UK, we are competing against projects from across the globe in our category of ‘Creating Impact’ -  ‘A large Sustainable Development Goals impact in the smallest FE College’, which we won with our collaborative project with the West Yorkshire Consortium of Colleges in 2023. 

We are competing against institutions including universities in Canada, Malaysia and Australia, so to be the only UK finalist in this international category is pretty amazing!

"Attending the UK and Ireland Green Gown Awards in 2023 was an overwhelming experience and it was amazing to hear all the sustainability projects from national colleges and universities. The Strategic Development funded,SDG training project winning the “Creating Impact” category in these awards shows that even a small establishment can make a positive impact. The next big step is being a finalist in the International Green Gown Awards, which showcases the best sustainability projects within the tertiary education sector, not just across the UK but across the world."

Established in 2004, the UK and Ireland Green Gown Awards recognise the exceptional sustainability initiatives being undertaken by universities, colleges and other institutions in the post-16 education sector. With sustainability high on the agenda for many institutions, the Awards have become established as the most prestigious recognition of best practice within the sector.
