Litter Picking

Thank you to all staff and students that took part in the Big Hog Friendly Litter Pick Challenge from September to November - you have helped save hedgehogs and other wildlife around Saltaire from potentially becoming trapped or injured from plastic packaging and other waste.

Universities, colleges, secondary schools and primary schools from across the UK took part in the challenge - and collected a total of 840 bags of litter!

Shipley College has won first place in the college category!

Sustainability Litter Picking
"One of Shipley College's main sustainability goals over the last two years has been to increase the biodiversity around our estate. We are achieving this by enhancing our green areas and creating wildlife friendly spaces.
We are now a Hedgehog Friendly Campus and secured our Bronze Award last year. As part of this scheme we complete the annual Big Hog Friendly Litter Pick Challenge and this year staff and students have been working extra hard to pick up as much litter as possible around the estate and local community. Their hard work and dedication has won us first place in the 2024 competition for the college category and we couldn't be any prouder!"
