GREEN CAREERS WEEK AT SHIPLEY COLLEGE
Green Careers Week is an exciting annual event that our students have been getting involved in.
In PSHE, our students have been learning about what sustainability is and how it is related to their everyday lives, either in College, at home or their future careers.
Our first year Level 3 students will be planning sustainability projects that they can implement in College, while developing a range of skills that they can transfer to their future careers. These skills are particularly important, as we have spoken to a range of businesses who are looking for sustainability related skills and values in their future employees. The skills include technical skills such as; software development and engineering, artificial intelligence and research, as well as values such as respect, compassion, ethical judgment and kindness.
Our second year, Level 3 students have been recapping the importance of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals and will be researching how sustainability links to their chosen careers - after all, every career is a green career!
If you want to get involved with Green Careers Week and gain your own qualification in sustainable development, Skills for Work are running a range of Level 1 and 2 sustainability qualifications, which are free for anyone aged 19+.
