Sara Shipley College Childcare Student

‘I have always wanted to work with children so I knew I definitely wanted to do a Childcare or Early Years Education course when I left school. I visited a Shipley College open event and really liked the environment, it was relaxing and calm. The tutors talked me through the course and I just found them all to be lovely and welcoming.

It's an amazing course, I’ve had a lot of fun but I have also worked really hard. I have loved the whole course, it's really helped prepare me for the next step.

As part of the course we have to go on work placement. Lisa, one of my tutors, suggested Leelas Ladybird Private Day Nursery. I had a really great week there and at the end of it they suggested doing an apprenticeship and I jumped at the chance!

My plan is to finish my course and start my apprenticeship. Right now I am working there on Tuesdays but as soon as I finish college I will be there 4 days a week for the apprenticeship.

Once I've finished the apprenticeship I am hoping to carry on working and get a full time job. I would definitely recommend people study childcare at Shipley College, it has provided me with amazing experiences and opportunities!’
