CELEBRATING LGBTQIA+ AND HISTORY MONTH

Shipley College is proud of the diversity of its staff and students. With February being the LGBTQIA+ and History month in the UK, this was a perfect time to celebrate with our annual Shipley College Pride event.
This is an opportunity to celebrate diversity, actively engage and promote external partnerships, celebrate student success and for the whole college to be involved in a celebration.

The Exhibition Hall had a carnival feel when it turned into a festival of colour and a flurry of activity. With external providers ranging from MESMAC, LOCALA, Equity partnership to TRansleeds alongside internal activities including a student T shirt design competition, an interactive pride wall and displays in the library. The canteen celebrated with a Pride themed menu and food to support the event alongside a fabulous cake (see below) made by Chris Holgate.
The college is proud of the diversity of its staff and students. A huge thank you to all those involved and a special mention to Joanne Wilde, Wellbeing Coach for leading the event. We look forward to the future EDI events including Iftar, the EDI Summit and Culture day.
