ACCESS TO FURTHER LEARNING AND WORK - INDUSTRY SKILLS WEEK

Last week the Department of Access to Further Learning and Work took part in Industry Skills Week. As with all other departments across the college this is a pivotal event designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application.
The week's agenda was packed with engaging and informative activities including trips and visits to workplaces, completing employer set briefs, talking to industry professionals and working collaboratively with each other.
The department worked in partnership with the following businesses - Asda, Salts Mill, Wishing Well Nursery, Rainbow Nursery, EnPoint, Porsche, RRG Group, Bradford University, Hollins Hall, Cliffe Vale Care Home, Wellington House Nursing Home, Salts Mill art gallery, Little Wellies, Westfield Nursery, Light of the World and Learning Zone.
The students and staff have had the opportunity extend their learning from the classroom by engaging in the following:

Practical Workshops: Sessions focused on developing essential soft skills, such as leadership, project management, and critical thinking.

Experiencing Real-World Environments: Planned workplace visits supported students to gain first hand exposure to the realities of different industries including day to day operations.

Networking with Industry Professionals: Students were able to interact with industry professionals this enabled crucial insights into current industry trends and potential career paths.

Developing a Deeper Understanding of Industry Needs: The week enabled students to highlight the skills and knowledge that employers value most, empowering students to better prepare for their future careers.
