T LEVEL PLACEMENTS
T Levels are full-time courses, equivalent to A-Levels, that were launched by the Government in 2020.
T Level students commit to one subject that they want to pursue as a career - for example we offer T Levels to get people into Midwifery, or Childcare, Media Broadcasting or Data Analytics.
A major part of the T Level course is a mandatory work placement in the chosen field, so the students will work for a relevant employer for 45-60 days over their course. Obviously this is great for the student and their career aspirations, but is also great for local employers.
It gives you the opportunity to take on a young person who wants to work in your sector, free of cost, and see if they are a good fit for your business - almost like an extended interview process.
It is a chance for companies to investigate the talent pipeline locally, and an opportunity to help shape your own future employees. Not only that, but it is great corporate social responsibility!
With Apprenticeships, the split of time is roughly 80% in the workplace, with 20% college study. With T Levels, it is more like 20% in the workplace, and 80% studying technical skills in college.
Unlike taking on an Apprentice, there is no wage consideration for students on T Level placement, but lots of employers find that these talented and committed students are worth taking on permanently at the end of the course!

"WE'VE REALLY ENJOYED WORKING WITH SHIPLEY COLLEGE'S T LEVEL STUDENTS. THEY'VE BEEN FANTASTIC - HARDWORKING, EAGER TO LEARN, AND A PLEASURE TO BE AROUND."
"We've been impressed by their skills and dedication, and we're excited to announce that one of them will be joining us permanently as they've exceeded all expectations during their placement. We believe in investing in the next generation of skilled professionals, and it's been a pleasure to be a part of that journey with Shipley College."
