What can you do if you are unhappy with your results?

If you are unhappy with your exam results there are a few options you might want to consider. We can, on your behalf request any of the following:

Priority Script Request (you can request your script to check and use as support for a review of marking) Please note that all ‘Review of Marking’ requests will start with a Script Request so a tutor can confirm if there would be a benefit to having the script remarked. We are unable to make any remark requests without the authorisation of the relevant tutor, this reduces the risk of grades dropping rather than going up.

Clerical Check (a clerical re-check of a marked paper to make sure that all pages are marked, all marks are counted and that your result matches the mark on the paper)

Priority Review of Marking (this includes a clerical re-check and a second examiner will review the paper/recording again to identify genuine marking errors or unreasonable marking but would be done immediately after the results without a script request first)

Review of Marking (this includes a clerical re-check and a second examiner will review the paper/recording again to identify genuine marking errors or unreasonable marking)

Script Request (you can request access to scripts from an original marked exam for use in your future learning)

Please be aware that there are 3 possible outcomes to these appeals

  • Your original mark is lowered, so your final grade may be lower than the original grade you received

  • Your original mark is confirmed as correct and there is no change to your grade

  • Your original mark is raised, so your final grade may be higher than the original grade you received

We suggest you give this some thought before you ask us to put an appeal in and please be aware that there are specific deadlines for each request. Please use this link to check deadlines and make your request.

We wish you the best of luck for results day and hope you enjoy the rest of your summer. We look forward to welcoming back those of you who are returning in September. Don't forget that student services are on hand if you would like to discuss your next steps.
